It's statistically almost a certainty that there is life elsewhere in the universe. Intelligent life is pretty probable too. However, because of the vast distances involved, making contact with any life outside our solar system seems pretty unlikely; and finding any life more complex than single cells inside our solar system equally so.

I totally agree with tobyink
So I dont want to know if there is extraterrestrial life out of there, because I already know. So I voted No
Universe is too big and big numbers are fun: impossible to state that Earth is an unicum (well probably is, but in another sense and we must conserve it as well as we can, instead of depredate it..).
I want just to add a little concept: lithopanspermia.

Hmm.. shouldn't the question be about intelligent life ?
Anyway, I'm still wondering if there is any terrestrial intelligent life ...

in other words, before trying to create "artificial intelligence" we should try to unterstand natural stupidity?

Liu Cixin's trilogy Remembrance of Earth's Past
gives an interesting aspect to that question, comparing galactic civilizations with hunters in a dark forest:
In a dark forest, you have no way to identify if anyone you meet is peaceful or not.
So the only rational way (if you want to survive) is to hide yourself - and to kill any other before they might see and kill you.
So I'm not so sure if I want to find out if there is extraterrestrial life ...

I voted "No" because I'm sure there is.
I'm pretty sure it's an intelligent life form. Proof is: They ignore us.

I voted "No" because I'm sure there is.
It's interesting - I don't see the causative relationship.
To me, it would make just as much sense (ie none whatsoever) to say "I voted 'Yes' because I'm sure there is".
The question is "Do you *want* to know", and the answer is not reliant upon what (if anything) you already know.
The question is about what you *want* to know, irrespective of anything that you already know.
Cheers, Rob

Don't confuse me with facts.
I'm sure there is.
I don't want to know because if there isn't I cannot be sure anymore.
But I'm sure there has to be because here there isn't.

As tobyink, in effect, said earlier - we already know.
