Perhaps the DBD::mysql perl module hasn't been fully installed?

DBI is just a frontend which provides the API to different backend drivers.

    sorry - is that better? I just reinstalled DD::mysql, but it's still throwing the same error...

      The way forward always starts with a minimal test.
        I reinstalled on the cPanel for our site (we're on a shared host). I just click the button to reinstall (sorry, I'm only a hobbyist perl programmer)
