in thread RAM: It isn't free . . .

It will only ever run on research hardware.   Currently my machine during development; but once optimised, on a whole bunch of purchased cloud instances specially configured for research purposes!

Ooooh... to be a trust-fund baby, nestled in the ivory walls of academia!   Damn!

And to think that you have, for all these many years(!), so vehemently(!) and so publicly(!!) criticized me ... when your hardware, and therefore presumably also all of your projects, have been blissfully immune from the acid-tests of ... commerce?!?!?

“Frankly, I always suspected as much.”   My clients depend on profits, and upon very-savvy investors who come from the battle-hardened realities of business.   (Take a hint:   both “venture capital” and “a bank loan” are a bargain with the Devil ... all of which concerns have nothing to do with Tenure.   If you can’t bring me a ROI, you are Chapter-11.)

I live in that world.   Hell, I prosper in it.

Therefore, please dispatch yourself, forthwith, back to the ivory towers from which you came and to which you and your ever-so-insistent properly belong.   The rest of us, in “that great-big World Out There,” e-a-r-n our keep!

Good luck, sir, in applying for The Next Rich-Man’s Tax-Evading Grant™ that keeps your household in tea and biscuits.   All that being said, kindly clear-the-air for any t-e-c-h-n-i-c-a-l responses that might subsequently appear with regards to this Meditation.   E-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g else is ... pardon me for being so blunt ... “off-topic.™”

do I really need to be more explicit?

(And why... please remind me... am I straying oh-so-far off-topic even to say this??)   I don’t recall ...   Let us, therefore, all return to ... The Topic.   Because, after all, that’s what 99.9% of our collective audience ever came here for.   “Personal differences” between us, after all, are (two decades or-more hence ...) ... “at-best a curiosity, typically a vain amusement.”   So, let us tip our hats to history and legacy, and sail blissfully beyond these petty contremps.   Shall we? ...

You puerile fool; grabbing at straws. I've never been an academic. All of my career has been spent in the commercial world.

This research is being done in order to find an optimum solution to a large scale and ongoing commercial problem.

The results of the research will, hopefully, cut my customer's annual electricity bill by millions of pounds. Hence their readiness to throw 1/4 million at researching this optimisation.
