Hi Ken,

I did multiple attempts to find the code to provide a patch, but failed.

Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems to me like there was already some godly interference in the meantime. The link is now at the end of the preamble in its own paragraph. (No patch was logged)

Please check.

I could think of more decoration though, (like turning it into a button) but let's give it a try.

Another improvement could be a shortcut for the CB to better guide new visitors.

(similar to [SOPW] -> SOPW)

This [id://479#post] doesn't render well.

Edit

Well SOPW has already a link to the bottom, I think this does the job well. :)

Seems I'm suffering from reverse deja-vu (jamais-vu? ;) ...

update

Funny... the term jamais-vu exists ...

I need more sleep. ..

Cheers Rolf

If it's new, that would explain why I hadn't previously noticed it. :-)

Yes, it appears at the end of the preamble in its own paragraph; so no change since you last looked. It renders as (link just shown as underlined text):

    Post a new question!

When I access the site via https://www.perlmonks.org/, the link resolves to https://www.perlmonks.org/?node=Seekers of Perl Wisdom#post.

I don't know where you're getting [id://479#post]. If I was including a standalone link in a post, I'd write [href://?node_id=479#post|Post a new question] (which should resolve to the appropriate /(?:|www\.)perlmonks\.(?:com|net|org)/ URL: Post a new question).

It would be useful to have similar "Post a new ..." links in other sections. I checked a few places (Meditations, PM Discussion and CUFP): no such links there.

I note that Tidings: What's New at PerlMonks hasn't been updated since May last year. Is that what you were referring to with "No patch was logged"? I'm pretty sure there have been changes which occurred in the last eight months: Supplications in the Monastery Gates; layout in Nodes to Consider; possibly others. Perhaps Tidings has fallen into disuse.

    — Ken

That link appeared thanks to an edit made by Arunbear on 2021-01-23 — the day after your OP above. I suspect he did it in attempt to address your complaint. I suppose he should have said something.

However, this change was effected by an edit to a blob of html, not a code patch. And IMHO it does not rise to the level of what needs to be announced in Tidings. If we set the bar that low, Tidings would become unusably bloated.
"Hint text was changed from bold to italic..." No.

I reckon we are the only monastery ever to have a dungeon staffed with 16,000 zombies.
      Hi Ken,

      > If it's new, that would explain why I hadn't previously noticed it. :-)

It wasn't new, but I remembered it at another place(?)

      > Is that what you were referring to with "No patch was logged"?

No, the monastery has an internal RCS and patches to nodes show in RAT view for pmdevs

But it happens that the gods bypass the patch mechanism.

      Cheers Rolf

However it got there, the new link at the top makes life easier and I've just used it :)
