It's got a Reputation: -5 (+3 -8), so I think that's why - a recent patch, I believe. Since the parent node shows A reply falls below the community's threshold of quality. You may see it by logging in., perhaps it would make sense to replace the node's content with that message instead of just blanking it out.

That says This would not affect any node being viewed "directly", only replies under it -- regardless of that node's type or reputation. It also would not affect root posts being shown in RAT.
