Google is funding an analysis of and action plan for the Perl documentation as part of the project to make Perl 7 more newcomer-friendly. This work is to begin imminently and should be completed by the end of the year.

This seems to be fabulous news, not just for the documentation work, but because Google is investing in Perl!

The way forward always starts with a minimal test.

    From the Project Proposal:

The project's goals do not include:
    • Any changes made to the websites or other public resources that host, publish, or otherwise make available Perl's documentation.

I'm especially happy to see this. I was afraid this was going to be just a "delete the man pages and make a JavaScript-heavy web docs" type of idea, as we see all too often in other spheres

"Excuse me for butting in, but I'm interrupt-driven..."
