Anonymous Monk has asked for the wisdom of the Perl Monks concerning the following question:

Hi Monks,

While fetching data from Oracle db using Perl DBI, since column name is lengthy enough, oracle is truncating the 30th character from the column name, because of it's column length restriction it seems.

Is there anything we can do using perl DBI to avoid this column name truncation from the result set.

Thank you

Pre Oracle v12.2 30 bytes was the limit, post v12.2 this is no longer the case. If you built DBD::Oracle against a pre v12.2 database and have since upgraded you should rebuild against the updated database/clients. Hi Marto,

Thank you for the revert. Oracle version i have is 19c, but driver i am using is ODBC and not DBD, could it be the issue.

Let me check that link you provided on how to ask question effectively

If you are using ODBC in windows ensure your Oracle driver is up to date. Update: I assume you don't experience this problem using sqlplus directly?
