Levels of Monks: missing a row

by kcott (Archbishop)
on Nov 25, 2023 at 03:08 UTC ( [id://11155815]=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

Assuming the Monk Level Summary in "Voting/Experience System" is correct, the table in "Levels of Monks" is missing a row:

Level Privileges Title XP ΔXP Votes
29   His Eminence 1000000 900000 100

I'm not aware of any special privileges at this level. If there are, they should be added.

Update: It would appear that there was some sort of misunderstanding regarding this post. Please see: "Re: Levels of Monks: missing a row [Clarification]".

I've reread what I wrote several times. It is completely beyond me how this resulted in the posts that followed, which included words and phrases such as "imbalance", "patch", "re-open old wounds", and so on.

By way of clarification, here's the steps I went through yesterday afternoon [my timezone: UTC+11:00] which led to my post:

    • I was looking at "Voting/Experience System".
    • In the section "What levels are there and how many votes do they get?", there's a table with the title "Monk Level Summary".
    • This table shows levels 1 to 29.
    • After the table is: "See Levels of Monks for more detail." — I followed that link.
    • "Levels of Monks" has a table which shows levels 1 to 28.
    • I checked in "Saints in our Book". Here I saw three entries with "Patriarch (28)" and one with "His Eminence (29)".
    • I went back and checked all the names and numbers in the two tables in "Voting/Experience System" and "Levels of Monks". These aligned perfectly except that "Levels of Monks" was missing a final row for Level 29.
    • I posted this discrepancy and included what I believed the missing row show should be.

I was rather expecting a single reply, possibly from someone in the SiteDocClan cabal, containing text along the lines of:

"Well spotted. I've added the missing row. Thanks."

Perhaps that can still happen. :-)

      > . It is completely beyond me how this resulted in the posts that followed,

It's kind of a regression bug after replacing "pope" and referencing the source context might help the maintainer fixing the resulting problem. Probably other structures in the monastery are implicated too.

It might also be interesting for outsiders. A thread is read by hundreds of people after all.

Yes. The background to this surprising discrepancy may be of interest to other monks ... and is the main reason I hang out here rather than SO, as nicely summarized by Perl Monks pioneer tye:

Most languages are like stackoverflow: I have a question, I want the best answer. Perl is like PerlMonks: I have a doubt, I want to read an interesting discussion about it that is likely to go on a tangent. q-:

Well spotted. But I'm not going to add the missing row at least not at this time. Thanks.

All good. Tooltip re "weirdness ..." noted. ☺️ I'll consider this item closed.

        > but I have a feeling kcott knew all about that link

I'm sure he does, at least did he also participate in the linked thread.

I just have the - irritating for some - tendency to add more context to a thread, without meaning to reply directly to the previous monk.
