If there's no field/checkbox/whatever then there's no issue at all.

I would not necessarily expect these to be in the sign-up form. It seems like an additional thing a Monk might want to configure after spending some time in the Monastery to confirm that it's right for them. We don't ask those in the process of signing up to fill in blurb on their home node or configure their nodelets, etc. I see this on a par with those sorts of things.

Overall it sounds like a minor benefit to me and I have no objections to it being implemented on an opt-in basis.

I was under the impression that this was intended as part of registration; however, I've reread the OP and it doesn't say that.

If this was an opt-in under, for instance, User Settings → Miscellaneous, I wouldn't have an objection to that.
