Wow, almost ~~to the~~ exactly one year. Then, I merely entertained the idea of Strawberry, based on all the recommendations. A sort of removal of the negative impetus to not switch. For whatever reason, this thread got me in a mood to actually go look -- and so now it is not merely an absence of negative, but the existence of positive motivators on this front. At this rate, I might be installing it by July 2016!	[reply]

Consider the portable option, you could run Strawberry side bybside with ActiveState for evaluation purposes.	[reply]

Excellent, thanks -- and after reading up, it sure sounds like this portable option could have resolved a deployability issue I'd had at a previous job where I wasn't allowed to formally install Perl, but could copy files back and forth and execute programs on the other end. If so, this would surely be a nice tool to have in the back pocket, in the event that ever comes up again.	[reply]
