Dunno, but I can guess.   Good sir, you responded quite brilliantly to this post, once again demonstrating your quick and well-seasoned technical skill.   Every one of the posts in the thread promptly got up-votes from me as well as (I see) many others.   Deservedly so.

So ... where did the “catty comment” come from, and why?   The OP has a big requirement, has obviously spent a lot of time already wrestling with it, and just got a helluva genius-boost from (in particular) you.   Why the rest of it?   What does it add ... why say it at all?   You are eminently qualified to speak with authority to “any-and-all edge cases that require large amounts of data to be processed in short amounts of time using Perl.”   Why be rude about it?!
