I don’t know that a person with a high IQ is any more (or less) likely to suffer the mental disorders listed above than a person of average or low IQ (and, BTW, rumination syndrome is a physical disorder, not a mental one). But that’s beside the point. Classifying “the god delusion” as “[an]other mental disorder” is a classic example of petitio principii (begging the question). So, as regards the first paragraph above: kudos for the rhetoric, but no prizes for the logic (since there isn’t any).
The second paragraph is more interesting, because the quote from Dawkins reveals a characteristic flaw in his argumentation: the failure to distinguish religious faith from fideism. The consequence of this failure is that the “unquestioning faith” he attacks is largely a straw man of his own imagining (at least as far as mainstream Christianity is concerned).
On the role faith plays in Christianity, a good place to start would be the essay “On Obstinacy in Belief” by C. S. Lewis.

Just before this thread dives into throwing apples and oranges at each other.
What is a "religion"?
There are many very different dimensions
- believing in higher beings/deities
- ethical behavior (commandments like "don't kill" to "don't
fart drive cars" )
- political impact (e.g. cast system or using priests as functionaries or seeing a king as gods representative )
- adopted traditions (from Christmas trees to female circumcision)
- ethnic group thru strict endogamy *
@Erix: Darwin didn't solve the problem of the watchmaker, and Kant proved long ago that there can't be any proof either way.
Instead of discussing the badly defined R-word we should concentrate on aspects affecting our past and future - especially in a globalized world.

Yeah, we knew well before him that not believing in a deity was sheer idiocy. His theories, however, made it even more obvious.

how does mr. darwins findings somehow remove the thought of a god or creator? you somehow insist that just because we evolve, that there is no sense of a god. care to elaborate?

Discoveries like those of Mr. Darwin keep pushing back the ascribed functionality of a god, or as Dr. Tyson puts it "god is an ever receding pocket of scientific ignorance."

Thankyou for the link to Dr Tyson's videos. I've been sitting here waiting for a delivery and that link led to "Neil deGrasse Tyson’s Best Arguments Of All Time, Part 1, 2 & 3" and they've kept me much more entertained than the crap Amazon series I was intending to use to while away the time.
I know I've seen a few snippets from him before, but he's not that visible over here. He's very entertaining.

im going to check out the links and videos soon, but scientifically, there is no way to prove nor disprove a god or creator (atleast without viewing those links first ;) ). but given the specifics, with how well everything works together in this universe, i would say it has to have some form of creationalism or purpose.
now i am not talking jesus type of creationalism and/or creationalism just for humans. and i cannot put my finger on what i mean exactly. but just look around you and view the beauty of life, it isnt by pure chance and randomness that flowers smell so good. for a plant to be beautiful and have a good smell, to me, means that it was for enjoyment and satisfaction. just like the trees that bear fruit or the stuff that grows out of the ground that is good for us, i think they are called vegetables. could you imagine humans evolving on a planet with none of those things? haha nope. what is the purpose of fruit and the birds and the bees, and well, the whole ecosystem? and thats just our planet, which is one spec... hell it aint even a spec, were like 1 quadrillionth of a spec. there are people who think it was randomness? or was just because we were in the habitable zone in our solar system? just because we are in a habitable zone, does not mean things should have evolved together like it has.
i know it probably sounds crazy, and quite honestly, i probably didnt explain it the greatest way i could have, but hopefully the point gets across. something wants life to live and it isnt a fluke or randomness. i dont know what it is or why it wants that, but it does. and something as simple as fruit in the trees and flowers that are beautiful and smell good... are just a few things that lead me to believe in a creator. and like i said, i am not referring to "religion".
now i am not going to try to speculate (anymore) who was the creator or why, or when or how. or even where... because quite honestly, i am still not sure if i am really here or not.
