in thread Why should any one use/learn Perl 6?

You admonish that I should remain on topic. The topic was Why should I use Perl 6? not What anecdotal accomplishments has the Great and Powerful sundialsvc4 achieved with languages other than Perl?

I posted no opinion because, like you, I had nothing of value to add.

The topic is "Why should anyone learn Perl 6", the reply was "Because it may come in handy later, even if you do not need it now, like in this case.". IMNSHO, the reply was on topic.

I dissent. It was used purely as a chance to toot his own horn; it's one of his three MOs. To underscore my feeling here let's consider a couple things. He's been extremely hostile to, and ignorant about, Perl6 so his opinion here was either unrelated to the topic of Perl6 or a flip-flop for upvotes in a thread where technical expertise, c.f. code, is not required. Also, Prolog, Python, and R are being cited as new technologies one might keep up with. The youngest in the group is 24 years old, the oldest is 46, and all are more popular than Perl6 is or is likely to ever be. If the advice is learn every single language that is released… it's either pointless or terrible advice.
