Many of you have longed for it ... now you have it. My 4,624th post since Oct 29, 2007, and my very last. Yes, I just can’t take it anymore. You will never again hear from me – no, not even “anonymously.”
When I first joined this community, eleven years ago, it was vibrant and active and eager to respond to questions from “the very-humblest Monk.” Of course it was contentious, even then, but like the language itself this web-site appeared to stand above its competition. (In retrospect, I suppose that this was simply because, at the time, it didn’t have much competition.)
So, what remnants are we left with today? Frankly, I don’t want to look (back). Technical questions that don’t actually get answered ... proffered answers that get deleted(!) due to internecine politics ... newbies who apologize for having bothered ... “how to post a question more effectively?”
Yes, after eleven years here, I have had enough. (And, P.S.: I really don’t give a damn anymore whether you ‘allow’ this topic to see the light of day, or not. Do feel free to bury it with the rest of your garbage.)
Good day to you all.
