Bug?: Reaped nodes become invisible as replies in sub-thread view (solved)

by LanX (Archbishop)
on Aug 05, 2018 at 17:09 UTC ( #1219887=monkdiscuss: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

I was messaged that I got a reply to

Re^5: RFC: Hide Very Bad Answers From Visitors (Bla)

But it doesn't show up under replies.

IMHO that's new behaviour...

For comparison go to Reaped: Re^6: RFC: Hide Very Bad Answers From Visitors

And click on "in reply to"

Possible reasons:

  • It was reaped in the meantime.
  • the new patch to hide bad posts
update

at the time of posting this, neither the Reaped Node nor it's placeholder were under -5 rep.

Not exactly new as its like that since 2015
Thanks, missed that: Reaped nodes no longer visible?

      From Tidings:

Reaped Nodes (and their branches) are no longer shown in threads and Super Search

As of 2015-07-27, you will no longer see reaped nodes, nor any nodes below them in the "tree" of replies, in any threaded view. This is now default behavior, but logged-in monks can override this by checking the "Show Reaped" checkboxes in Newest Nodes Settings. Note that Anonymous Monk has no way to override this behavior, and now will never see any reaped node, except when landing directly on a reaped node's page.

Also, reaped nodes will now no longer be included in Super Search results, unless you explicitly include author NodeReaper in your search criteria. As above, this behavior is overrideable by the NN Settings variables.

      Cheers Rolf
