Last and Least

by liz (Monsignor)
on Aug 30, 2018 at 21:55 UTC ( #1221403=perlmeditation: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??

This is the last node that I will write in PerlMonks. It was fun, mostly. It isn't anymore, not even on average.

I wish the Perl Monks strength.

Goodbye!

    That's sad.

Most of us just want a platform for good discussions and are open for any kind of opinion, as long it's not intimidating others.

The quarrels of the last days happened only within a very small group getting more and more emotional, I stopped following or grasping all of this.

I understand if you need a pause , but please consider coming back one day.

    Cheers Rolf

    What can I say?

It's your decision, dear Liz, I respect it and there is no point for me to try to argue on it, but I'm nonetheless sorry about it.

Farewell (but I still hope to see you back here some day). Fortunately, there are some other venues where we'll continue to meet, virtually or otherwise.

    All the best.

    That's weak.

You reappear here at Re^3: Why should any one use/learn Perl 6? after what was essentially 10 years of absence (with a few (4!)) intervening posts, in order to promote another of your fantastical imaginings -- like the utterly bogus and pointless use less... that litter all your useless P5 modules.

Another: "hyper" -- in a long list -- of imaginary, unimplemented and unimplementable; and worst of all -- entirely unnecessary -- 'solutions'.

Since then, you're 30-something posting have entirely bypassed the Permonk's remit of helping others with their Perl (5) questions; and have been concentrated entirely on trying to resuscitate interest in the long dead fantasy of Perl6.

Perl5 may well have been moved to the hospice, but it could and probably will survive there for a long while to come; Perl6 on the other hand was still-born. Little more than a phantom pregnancy that caused pain for those that experienced it and produced nothing viable.

So now you attempt to flounce off taking the moral high ground as you go...and fail. Dismally. sundial did it better; and his was pathetic.

Aarrgh, why did you remind me? He's still haunting me, even managing to spoil my recent seaside holiday at Torquay by popping up in one of my photos of beautiful coastlines. :)

And yet only one contribution here looks like one of SunnyD’s posts in the way that matters most–

      Reputation: -4 (+9 -13)

S'funny thing. When I first started calling out sundial's posts for what they were; there were a lot of people here who said I was too harsh, that I should give him the benefit of the doubt, that with encouragement and positive reenforcement he could be redeemed and brought into the fold.

It took a very long time before the majority saw what I saw, and recognised the insidious nature of his postings.

And so it is on this subject. 3 or 5 years from now if you still come around, you'll recognise I was right 12 years ago; and right again now.

Of course, it'll be too late by then, because it is already too late.

Certain people ought to take this pedestrian down-vote more seriously rather than assume that the "group" is always in the right. Me, I don't need approval from the group - I get enough in the real world. And anyway, you can't kill me; I'm already deceased, or at least, offically ;)

If you were just going to come back and continue posting under a different name, we could have simply changed your username. We do that routinely... and usually for the exact same reason you had.
