I recently released OPEAL, a library for evolutionary computation AKA simulated evolution. It does evolution using bitstrings and vectors, distributed simulations using SOAP, and will soon do genetic programming; the basic classes are already on the CVS server. The released version is a bit outdated, but the CVS snapshots work very well. Please take a look and give me your opinion
