Generate an RSS file of...

I think it would be neat of you created a(n) RSS file(s) based on the New Nodes page. This way, not only could people create Netscape channels, but people can also add it to their own pages (personal portals, or whatever). Updating the file periodically to see the top X new items. Just a thought.

Cheers,
KM

An RSS file does exist, actually... http://www.perlmonks.org/headlines.rdf.

It doesn't have the whole newest nodes page. It just seems to have new nodes (not notes/replies).

I agree w/ you--personally, I'd love to see the RSS file expanded upon. Perhaps create one for each area, let people configure it a bit, etc.

And so there is! Well, to extend on this...
How about allowing users to define their own RSS file based on the sections they choose. For example, I may be interested in Snippets and SoPW, so I can choose to see new nodes in these sections. Then, a custom RSS could be created for me to use. There would be a few ways to get this done, text files, or maybe generated dynamically by a CGI script. Just an extended thought..

      Cheers,
      KM

As long as enough information is provided in the RSS, the DBD::RAM module can be used to fetch the data and then provide a DBI query against it (full SQL!) in short order.
