I think we have to set the scene correctly here.
Location: The Watson's Bay pub, on Sydney Harbour. (Australia, by the way) Time: A warm summer's day, just after noon. View: Looking west over the blue expanse of Sydney Harbour, the sailing boats racing on the water, a green and yellow Manly Ferry plying its course between the City and Manly. Food: Fresh fried fish, that you know was swimming on the ocean only hours before, and obtained from the Seafood Markets earlier that morning. The fish is lightly battered in crisp beer batter. Beverage: A schooner (note for non-Aussies - a large, 15oz glass) of cold beer, either VB, Tooheys, or Hahn Ice. That, my monkish friends, is how to eat chips (fries if you must).
