Lots of good choices so far. I've got a few more to add to the list, in no particular order. These are the modules that I install/upgrade immediately when I'm on a new system.

• DBI
• AnyData
• XML::Simple
• Config::IniFiles
• LWP::Simple
• Math::NumberCruncher - Yeah, I'm a little biased on this one.
• Crypt::TripleDES
• Date::Calc
• Time::HiRes
• Math::BigInt
• Math::Big
• Crypt::RC4 - More of me being biased. :-P
