fork() is flaky on Win32 in my experience but you can get it to do some things. For a start I would try setting autoflush with a $|++ Also from the docs:
If you have working code on Linux it could be related to an outdated version of IO::Socket on the Windows box. merlyn will have a column on this and I know he has written a number of client/server apps.
