RE: New jobs section

I would think a Jobs Section would be overkill. There are plently of great resources on the web to find a job, and this site certainly doesn't need that functionality. As I am currently looking for a new job in an area I am relocating to, I can tell you that there are some good services out there.

Just my opinion, but the occasional ad may pop in, and can be deleted... but a section of the site to deal with jobs at this point would be too much. A link that says Perl Jobs which refers people to other sites (like monster.com, hotjobs.com, brainbuzz.com, jobs.perl.org, etc...) would be an OK idea. At some point I am planning to write something on the differences between the various job search sites, pros/cons, what type of replies each will give, what features they have, etc... (like hotjobs weeds out most headhunters, and brainbuzz let's you get very detailed about your skills).

Your node comparing different jobsearch web sites is excellent idea. It is exactly in spirit of PM site: provide real-world information and insight, avoid marketing hype.

OTOH, maybe if Everything company can get paid for posting job offers, and payments will cover bandwidth so needed, this might be better than Offering plate.

I am thinking, if vroom can create some simple ad generator, which will generate simple ads about posted perl jobs into headers... Header should be unobtrusive, no blinking or stuff, just info. You are free not to read them. Or maybe as an option, ads can be removed for a buck a month, if you do not want them?

Surely ads counb be posted only in special section, by registered user only, and we can also grade them with reputation of sort...

... last thing I want to do is push ads down anybody's throat... Just an idea how to provide for web site hosting and vroom's rent, from member of PerlMonks Boosters' Club and huge fan of this community.

I was thinking from a site usage standpoint. I don't want to log in and see tons of job postings. IF (Big IF) we are going to allow job postings, they need to be in their own section. Otherwise, they need to be killed.
