It's vroom's server, and vroom's code. If enough people complain about using "SHIT" in the error codes, I'm sure he'll change it. Personally, I think it's a nice change from the normal crap; makes it feel a little more home-like. How many of us HAVEN'T said "shit" when an unexpected error crops up? This is just more efficient, that's all...
As for it offending somebody (and I'm sure it will) so what? No matter what vroom does, it's going to offend somebody. Hell, if it makes you feel better, I'll be offended if he does get rid of it - because it's offensive to me when petty, spiteful people ruin a good thing through their inability to accept that the world does not revolve around them. It revolves around me, and the sooner they learn to accept that, the sooner I'll be less grumpy. <SEG>

I think the error message should be more realistic, something like:
GOD DAMMIT! WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED?? IT WAS WORKING A MINUTE AGO! JESUS H CHRIST!! I'M GETTING A BEER! Server Error (Error Id 823903)!

Hehe, on my intranet, one of my coders came up with an error message for the last else statement. I pestered him because I don't like die. Bascically it goes like this:
if ($action eq 'dothis') {
$html = &DoThis(blah);
} elsif ($action eq 'dothat') {
$html = &DoThat('blah blah');
# ... 14 options later ...
} else {
$html = Errors(qq{
I hate John. That bastard is so fucking picky
he won't let us get away with a simple "die".
If you got this message, don't be comming to me!
Its his shitty idea so bring it up with him!
});
}
How's that for an error message? Oh, and yeah... I let him keep the message as is.

Ha! I love it. It is always fun to see funny stuff in peoples code. Have you ever read the source for Net::IRC? I wish everyone would make code as enjoyable to read. But, this is likely a different topic :)

It's just an acronym for "Super High Intensity Transaction" Server. Sheesh. :) | [reply] |
Wow! This shows how oout of it I am-- I've seen that error plenty of times and never noticed the "SHIT."The Autonomic Pilot; it's FunkyTown, babe. | [reply] |
Maybe it is because I have been around truck drivers all
my life, but that just does not seem bad to me at all! lol
