The beer is indeed named 1664 (after the year that the brewery was founded).
We Australians also like our beer served cold. Personally, I can't abide the muck they serve in the UK. Far too warm for me. But you get used to anything I suppose :) Australian beer has gone through a renaissance in the past fifteen years, with a lot of small breweries setting up operations and giving the industrials a big scare. If you ever get to Oz, try a James Boag or a Cascade (both from Tasmania) or anything by Coopers (Ale, Lager, Stout) from South Australia. Do not ask for a Fosters.
