An excellent suggestion. The people you mentor today could be your co-workers (or boss) in the future.
Excellent research on the Benedictines, by the way. I'll throw in the following for what it is worth: Zen monks get "massaged" with a stick (keisaku) when their discipline lapses. A monk could get himself "massaged" 40 times just for falling asleep while meditating. The noise from the flattened end is supposed to help keep the other monks alert.
Training day for new monitors must be rough on the students, though...
