I am a long time perl user. I first used perl 4 in about 1993 for text processing and sys admin work. With a couple of years the web found me and I became the only Programmer/Analyst to use perl in a all Cobol shop. I had several fun years delivering CGI applications with 2 to 4 week turnarrounds rather than the nominal 4 month to two year delivery. I didn't make friends with the IT management so I moved on.

Since then I have become management and I don't get the programming time I used to.

Since I have stayed in the web dev world mostly on LAMP platforms the people that work for me have to endure a mildly strong evangilism for perl even when the P in lamp is for PHP.

In 2003 I start changing carrers and as of Sept 2005 I am now working in the Accounting Field. All my tech background still come into play in my current job but my main focus is the accounting.
