'Tis not really the most advanced use of perl i've ever seen, but an interesting addition to the infinite list of YAPU (YetAnotherPerlUsage): is running an article titled Perl provides distributed processing punch (source included).

    If you want to do distributed computing, there is no need to waste your time the way these people did. Just go to CPAN and use one of the existing distributed computing toolsets.
