The right choice of language in any given project is essential.
If you don't feel that this project is manageble in perl, do it in a different language.
You shouldn't feel obligated to write your projects in perl merely because you enjoy it.
You should feel obligated to write your projects in perl because it makes it simpler.
Remember that in large projects, the planning, the engineering, the treatment of portions on code as objects( well, it makes it easier ), and the proper segmentation of code are important.
Treating your code in a strict and uniform way is important.
Everybody being on the same page at the macroscopic level is important.
While PERL is great for MANY things, other languages have their strengths.
Not that perl isn't great, but I can certainly think of languages that are better for the situation that you describe.
Just remember, that doing a project, not in perl, isn't the end of the world. Also, remember, that you can always do PARTS OF IT in perl.
