I see a whole bunch of comments here on how to access data in various ways, but I think what you're really looking for is a good way to have most of the code automatically generated.
What you're looking at can be generated dynamically using any of their methods, or you can write a script to analyze the MySQL tables for unique keys and generate the functions that need to grab data for these keys.
