my screen runneth over

Several times over the past few weeks I've found that the The Monastery Gates page, and sometimes other nodes, are presented in tables stretched beyond my screen size. This forces me to scroll to the right to various degrees. It's worse in Netscape 4.75 but also happens using IE 4.72 (both on a Win98 box).

I don't have time to look over the HTML code right now but I assume that the Everything code is generating a nested table structure that stumbles on one of the many browser bugs out there.

Is there anything that can be done?

Regards,

sz (who recognizes that vroom gets many such requests daily- thanks!)

You need to change the 'Code Wrap Length' in your user setting to something like 60.

I think that this is also a FAQ
Actually, the 'code wrap length' setting only seems to affect that text within CODE tags. I've tried to vary it from a low of 10 to a high of 100 and it doesn't help with the 'text' wrapping problem that sz is talking about. I've only seen this pop up on the main page, and only a couple of times, seems like maybe the table width got knocked out out of kilter sometime after noon?
      -d4vis #!/usr/bin/fnord
Oh, i forgot: you also need to turn on 'code warping everywhere'

I think this may be caused by people who don't use the code tags when posting. If you directly use the HTML tags that would be generated by the code tag, then the engine doesn't wrap it.

It's a lot better than it used to be before we had the code wrapping feature.

Just to say that you are not the only one with the problem. I have it too; and I have codewrapping on. This is with Netscape 4.5 on Debian 2.1 Linux.

    Have Fun, Frans.
