Can u monks, guide me to a place where i can find some perl assignments which i can try out, to see whether i have understood the stuff. I mean i think i know some introductory stuff but i need some questions put up for me which i can try to code and evaluate myself. Thanks in advance.

There's also a tutorial, Perl 5 by Example that has a couple of exercises at the end of each chapter. The tutorial is not as good as some others, but the exercises get you thinking.
