Fellow Monasterians,

I'm writing a text file for import into Excel. As it is now, when the file is imported, any special characters, such as trademark symbol Ž reads as jibberish. In my editor, I have saved the file with UTF-8 BOM which Excel reads fine.

I've looked at File::BOM but before installing and trying that, are there any other considerations? Thanks!

Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
