I see comments on how with today's wide-screen monitors that you can fit more code on the screen.

Does nobody use a vertical screen to code? I've got 2 monitors, one rotated 90° so that I have the option of seeing twice as many lines when I'm writing modules. Most of my lines aren't long and splitting lines at semantic points gives me the option of commenting out a piece of a line in development.

Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
