Petruchio:
Well, as some of you know, I've been working for a
hospital lately... it's not bad, I guess. I'm making
templates out of the html that this fellow generated
with one of those GUI web page builders. And there's
a bunch of JavaScript involved, too, which is what I
wanted to talk to you about. I've had some insights
which I thought might be of interest to...

Oh! dash it all! I never wanted to do any of this! I
never wanted to write JavaScript, to toil away at web
pages... Bah! I wanted to be...

A PERL HACKER! Hopping from module to module, as they
drift down the Information Superhighway... crafting
statements... using map instead of for loops...
Ah, the Typeglob! The Regular Expression!
The mighty Closure! The plucky little Tie!
The strange Object that was kind of an afterthought
and doesn't hide data, but works really well anyway!
With my trusty camel at my side, we'd sing! SING!

Oh, I'm a Perl Hack, and I'm okay...
I hack all night, and I sleep all day!

Monks:
   He's a Perl Hack, and he's okay,
He hacks all night and he sleeps all day!

Petruchio:
I write my code, I take lunch breaks,
   I go to the Monastery!
   Sometimes I post my homework,
   And merlyn yells at me!

All:
   He's a Perl Hack, and he's okay,
He hacks all night and he sleeps all day!

Petruchio:
I debug code, I call in sick,
I stay home and play Doom!
   I write annoying letters
   About MonkMail to vroom!

Petruchio:
   I don't use strict, I wear a dress,
   With sequins in the hem!
   I wish I'd been a girlie,
   Just like old AgentM!

Monks:
   He... doesn't... use strict?!?
   Bloody imbecile... $Petruchio--;...

I trust I'll be back on speaking terms with AgentM one of these days... ;-)

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
