yes indeed perl (space) script_name.pl works.
You guys are correct; the only reason it is line 18 is because of the fact that there are a whole bunch of comments before the start of the script:
#!/usr/bin/perl -w
18 use strict;
19 use Date::Calc qw(Add_Delta_Days);
