So there are lots of doubt in your mind. Couple of examples:
- keeping it alive, not after it's already died.
- doesn't mean it can't shrink and shrink and shrink until it hardly exists anymore.
I am not saying you, but some perl guys like to use "not dead" as the prove for "not dying". You are right, revive it when it is dying, not after it is dead.

<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
