If the ego have a strong play in OS project, and I believe that you hare right, then I don't see that the review many success.
For many programmer, it's more motivating to rewrite a piece of code than to change it, to add new functionalities. This link it's about the subject Things You Should Never Do, Part I.
Code review it's, clearly, less motivating than write a new one, so ..

<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
