After just seeing (two) very long posts on SOPW, maybe we also want to add something lauding the glories of <readmore> tags? Something like:
Please, be respectful of other seekers of wisdom. Very long posts make it hard for people to see questioners that came before you. If your question is very long (more than N screenfuls), start with a summary paragraph and include the details between <readmore> tags.
For me, N > 2 (more than 2 screenfuls) is streching it and 4-5 is overboard. I suspect others have different feelings about when too much is too much, but I think coming up with some guideline of when a post is "too long" might avoid frustrating those who use the SOPW page.
Best, beth
Update: clarified "very long" - sort of

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
