Settings for interior pages?

Having played with the front page settings, I wonder if there are ways to increase the maximim number of entries displayed on the interior sections? Some of the sections contain a lot of nodes and scrolling backward 5-10-15 at a time can be a bit...well, tedious.

Also, is there a way to move the nodelets to the left side if the screen?

In the early days there was some discussion what to change to PM. User requests quest was a quest where user could request things to change the site.
One of my suggestions was to switcht the navigation to the left, because in that time there was no wrapping and my menu had to be accesed by horizontal scrolling(whhat I hate).
But this is now fixed and I don't see why the navigation should switch to the left side of the screen.

    My opinions may have changed,
but not the fact that I am right
