Just a couple of remarks as I'm not a native French speaker.
Mon premier titre officiel dans ma société fût 'Moine Perl'. 'fût' is the past subjunctive of 'être', but here the simple past (no circumflex) is required. Les monastères sont connus dans la culture comme des lieux de savoir... I think what the original 'culturally' means would be better rendered by something like 'D'un point de vue culturel, les monastères...' Par ailleurs, toutes les questions posées... The English here is 'eventually', which I would translate here by something like 'avec le temps'. dave
