Keep "Free MSVC tools + Activestate to compile CPAN Modules" on front page!

I haven't read all of Free MSVC tools + Activestate to compile CPAN Modules yet, but compiling modules that have .c files is much too difficult, at least on Windows, and there are no good instructions on how to do it. I was considering suggesting that this information be included in a book, in the thread Unwritten Perl Books.

Not only shouldn't that thread be taken off the front page, but if the instructions in it really work, it should be added to Tutorials.

I absolutely agree with the sentiment that it should be a Tutorial. Keeping it on the front page won't work because the front page is about the most recent nodes, not the best nodes. It definitely does sound like a tutorial, though.

Then there are Damian modules.... *sigh* ... that's not about being less-lazy -- that's about being on some really good drugs -- you know, there is no spoon. - flyingmoose

I shouldn't have to say this, but any code, unless otherwise stated, is untested

In case I wasn't clear, I was objecting to "Considered: Courage should not be front paged," not saying that it should be kept there permanently. I just want it to receive the front page treatment it deserves.

If you, personally, need it so badly, then either bookmark it, or add it to your personal nodelet. Personally, I almost never use Perl on Win32, and have no use for that particular node. Even if it were possible to keep it stuck on the front page, I don't think it would be a good idea. If other people need it to stick around, there are better ways than to have it permanently on front-page.

    Update: Grammour errour.
