Self-tought programmer who spends a lot of his time wishing that PHP was never invented (largely because my current employ requires that PHP be used for the majority of web applications we develop).

I current workly for a web development company building information systems of varying scale and complexity. My previous employment as a lead developer included designing and developing asset management and client portal applications for the newspaper & publishing industry and before that I spent quite a bit of time with a non-profit organization working on membership, registration & information management systems.

I've developed an affinity for Perl over the years (not to mention C, Lisp and assembly) and I have a particular distain for PHP (not so much because the language is terrible but because the majority of PHP code out there is utter crap).
