From the Toronto Perl Mongers mailing list:

    The Perl Foundations Conferences Committee has selected Toronto as the venue for YAPC::NA::2005. The proposal was submitted by Richard Dice and the Toronto Perl Mongers.
    Dates: Wed - Fri 22-24 June 2005
    Location: University of Toronto
    We hope for another great YAPC::NA in 2005! Congratulations to Toronto!
Hmm .. wonder if I can fit some Perl Monks onto my deck for a BBQ / jam session.

    {sigh}

    It must be fate that permits me to go to YAPC only every third year, either due to a locality or a scheduling conflict. (Actually, I was at 99 and 00, but missed 01 because it was in Canada, 02 because of schedule, caught 03, missed 04 because of schedule, and 05 because it's now in Canada. So, not quite every third year, unless you count the first one as a fluke.)

    I'll still make sure Stonehenge is represented well, but it looks like I'll have to wait until '06 to go to a YAPC again.

    Be sure to read my standard disclaimer if this is a reply.

      You'll be missed for sure .. but we'll be sure to toast 'absent friends' anywhere a glass is hoisted.

      Huh? What's wrong with Canada? I thought you were allowed to leave the country again?

      On the other hand, there are some of us who can't (well, won't) visit YAPCs in the US.
        Please add me to the won't list for anything in the USA. Not that the ywon't let me in, just that I won't go there any more!

    I think I'll be able to go to YAPC and TPC with greater regularity now. I'm in my last year of college (got "tute screwed", for those monks familiar with RPI's reputation of screwing up graduation-ability for many of its students), working part-time for the company that hired me over the summer, and they're a Perl-friendly place.

    I think I'm going to enter the realm of the professional conference attendee; you know, the guy (or girl) who talks about how his (or her) business uses Perl, instead of just talking about whatever Perl topic enthralls him (or her) the most.

    Sweet!! My neighbourhood is hardly downtown, but I can't complain! Thanks for the heads up

    Wow! A YAPC that might be close enough to attend for once! A 4 hour drive isn't *too* bad...
