Huge ammounts of incoming EXP

I'm not quite sure, but... lately I seem to experience this:

I receive 1 exp for every one or two ++ one of my nodes get.

Well, my math isn't really great so I can not check if this is due to a high or low $NORM but I think it is pretty rude to keep gaining exp like a mad thing because of a small reply node to a small root node.

Am I the only one experiencing this? If not, then what's the reason of it?

Yeah, it's all part of a "behavior modification program" trying to encourage participation, run by the "space aliens". So, don't take XP too seriously, once you hit Saint, you will be on the long million point climb to level Vroom, and you will never make it. :-)

It's good to encourage participation because it gives you and others a bit of verification that someone else actually read your comment.

Don't feel that way. Okay if you still feel that way, let me give you two reasons why you should not ;-)

• First of all, and most importantly, small node is just as important as big node, long node. Whatever it is a reply or an original node. You participated, you helped, that's all it is about.
• It is fair, the same rule has been applied to you, as well as others. You were not treated more kindly ;-) You might get luncky on one day, that just what rand does, another person might get the luck another day.

It is a 1/3 chance of increased XP for each ++ vote, until the value of the node goes over $NORM, which has been pretty stable recently in the 10 range. Then it goes to 50/50. And the chances get better as you go up farther. Voting/Experience System

I imagine you've just been "lucky". 1/3 chances aren't bad at all. My last node that got to 12 netted me about 6 xps (might have been slightly more or less because I don't know if I got the 2 point "login bonus"), where the expected value would have been 9/3 + 3/2 = 4 1/2, so at least here it seems pretty much inline. I've had 4-5 rep nodes that netted me no XPs as well.

exp is not money. it's not physical, other than the electrons holding the value somewhere... it's completely fiat. so unless you take exp seriously, it holds no real value for others. i still eat if i lose or gain exp and my internal organs still seem to work. no worries muba, you aren't being rude by the simple fact you gain exp.

I imagine there are some people who vote indiscriminately so as to get the largest point boost possible out of their daily votes, but they're hopefully in the minority, and it isn't your fault if you get a lot of votes.
