It's too bad you're only looking for the funniest from 2004. For if you were also considering nodes from 2003, I would not hesitate to nominate the How can I get which Windows domain an IP belongs to? thread, and in particular, the Ask the Dark Gods reply as the first node that ever made me laugh out loud involuntarily.
