Started using Perl seriously to manage Oracle log files in 1998, then to run servers and now mostly use it for CGI s‎crip‎ts with the DBI module.

Took first (and only) college programming course, FORTRAN IV, in 1969 while completing a degree in chemistry. Was programming in the lab before I switched to IT.
