I was one of those self taught programmers. I thought I was pretty good. I took a class in high school but the teacher let me go on my own since I had already learned everything she was going to teach. Well, now I'm in college and I'm awestruct. I'm taking fundamentals of computer science and I'm learning all these things I had never considered and never would have learned without a good professor.
The Moral of the story is: Learning takes time.
