Here's a great aphorism: "If brute force fails, then you haven't used enough"... I'm not so sure of what to think of this :-)

Or there's also "If it jams, force it; if it breaks, you needed a new one anyhow."

    It also reminded me of something someone posted on slashdot recently:
    "XML is like violence, if it doesn't solve your problem, just use more."
    Strangely, the first thing this made me think about was regular expressions.
