This is my first attempt ever at writing a perl poem. It doesn't do anything... but at least it runs. :) Perhaps some ideas/suggestions for next time?

my    $life = "i owe to you";
my    $pain = "you know so well";
open  MY, heart and tell
you;  listen MY, friend and care;
for   $you (qw/i will do the same/) {
   if (exists $your{pain}) {
      im here for $you;
   }
}
our   $friendship = "forever";
