It would probably help a lot if you didn't refuse to tell us what the different values are. Try using my $elements = @$arr - 1;. I believe I've seen "N-1" optionally used in the demoninator. I also suspect that $_*$_ will be more accurate than $_**2, but I doubt that would matter enough to cause you to write a node. - tye
